Worker Seeks Damages Over Restraint Death Trauma

United Kingdom, February 3, 2010
A TRAUMATISED worker at a secure training centre where a 15-year-old boy died after being restrained is seeking compensation from the Ministry of Justice.
Diana Smith was involved in restraining Stoke-on-Trent teenager, Gareth Myatt, at Rainsbrook Secure Training Centre, near Daventry, Northants, in April 2004.

Inquest jurors later returned a verdict of accidental death, but were critical of the Youth Justice Board's failure to review the safety of the restraint.
